National Gallery of Ireland

The National Gallery of Ireland has it all!  The National Gallery houses Irish and European paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings and watercolors and a nice array of each!  One of the amazing things about this lovely museum is that the holdings of the Gallery were put together "by way of individual purchases and gifts."  That makes the variety even more impressive. One of the most interesting areas is a collection of works by Irish artists.  One of these may be Paige's newest, favorite painting, but I'll let her tell you about that! I was familiar with Jack Yeats, but not as familiar with other Irish artists, so it was so nice to meet some new ones, as well as renew acquaintances with Van Gogh, Vermeer, Brughel and more. Many of the works could not be photographed, but the website for the National Gallery can show you more works.  Check out the Museum at www.nationalgallery.ie. Jack Yeats is not the only famous person in his family.  Who is Jack's even more famous brother?? Wouldn't it be wonderful to begin to accumulate works of art for a museum! What work of art would you definitely have to acquire for your museum?

Hi! My name is Maria and I am also a student at University of South Alabama in Dr. Strange's EDM 310. I am currently going to school to become an elementary teacher. I loved reading about the National Gallery of Ireland. My great grandparents immigrated from Ireland when they were children. So naturally I enjoy anything for Ireland. I am excited to look through more of your blog posts. Have a great time in Ireland.

Hi, My name is Heather Perrin, and I'm a student in EDM310 at USA. I can only imagine how awesome the National Gallery is in real life. The website gives the rest of us a glimpse, but wow! I find it extremely interesting that the museum is made up of the gifts. That is very unique. I have always wanted to go to Ireland. If I should get the chance, the National Gallery will be on my to-do list.

This gallery looked like it was a great experience! I never been to a gallery, but from the picture that shows the hallway, it looks a little tighter than that ones I've seen on TV. But the art work is unbelievable and sounds like they have a great variety that kept you entertained! Definitely looked like a great time.

My name is Tiffany Whitfield I am a student at USA. I am in the EDU 301-701 class and I like the picture of the sculpture that is posted in the Art Gallery of Ireland. I like it because in my opinion that is a high quality of art. I also like it because it is related to what we are currently doing in class which is making a sculpture of a TerraCotta Soldier.
