Paige, I loved the slide show and was filled with ideas on teaching comprehension skills. Using art as a way to teach critical reflection provides an interesting and fun forum for gathering facts. Once students have learned to respond to their thoughts in an organized manner, this same technique could be transferred to literature. I did not have time to make it through all the suggested links, but have saved this under my “Educational Favorites” for later. I love this teaching technique and hope to use it in my future classroom!!! Using visual arts gets kids engaged in regular classroom activities and/or subjects. Thanks for the info.
Thank you Ann and I hope you can use some of these ideas in your future teaching. Dr. Santoli and I certainly have put these strategies to use in our own teaching and learning through the years, and improved upon them through our own collaboration and research.
I really enjoyed viewing the slideshow that you posted. I learned so many things that I had never really thought about previously. I loved being able to see the various examples of how visual art can be integrated into all subject areas. There were so many things that I had never really given much thought to doing. I know that visual art is something that helps students to stay interested and engaged in the learning experience. I would definitely use the things I learned in the slideshow in a future classroom.

I really enjoyed the slideshow, it was very informative. I learned about things that I have never heard of. I never really have given that much thought about the teaching technique that you used, I believe that this technique will indeed keep the attention of students.
