Home Away from Home

We are staying at a Bewley's Hotel in the area of Ballsbridge. The hotel is in a great location and is a short bus ride to the city center. We noticed it was an older building which had been beautifully repurposed, and after investigating, found it had been a female orphan school built by the Masonic Order in the 1800s. The grounds and the hotel are really beautiful. The prior hall is now being used as a wedding venue. For more about the history, see http://www.bewleyshotels.com/ballsbridge/history.  It has a great restaurant, friendly staff, free wi-fi, and we will forever be grateful that they found us a room at 9:00 am when check in time is much later! Bewley's is a chain with six hotels in the U.K.

Beautiful colors of fall in Ireland!

When I traveled to Ireland in March of 2010, we stayed at Bewley's Hotel in Leopardstown! It was a wonderful hotel. We enjoyed sitting around and drinking tea every afternoon after a long day in the city. We would take the light rail train into the city. Reading your posts bring back so many great memories!

Hello! My name is Brittany Leavitt, and I am a student in Dr. Strange's EDM310 class. I enjoyed reading this post about the beautiful hotel that you are visiting! I can only hope to make a trip like this one day and learn about the place in which I am staying. As a history major, I am happy to see that you learned about the previous uses for the hotel. So interesting! I hope you enjoy your trip, and thank you so much for sharing your journey with all of us!

Hello! Taking a vacation to Ireland has never been a thought in my head. I dream of visiting so many different places, but never Ireland. After reading these great posts I think I just might be persuaded to take a trip there! Everything looks so nice and peaceful. The hotel that you all had the chance to stay at even looks very comfy.
